How to make Monster pitas

Bored of sandwiches? Your little monsters will love this fun take on a lunch box treat – pitas packed with goodness they’ll be itching to take a bite out of!


2 wholemeal pita pockets
2 slices leg ham
1/2 cup (40g) grated cheese
1 cup alfalfa sprouts


To create the appearance of ‘monster fangs’, cut small triangles out of the side of each pita bread. Then simply stuff with the ham, cheese and sprouts, before wrapping in plastic wrap. Lunch done.

Fill pita pockets with anything you know your kids will eat (I’m probably pushing it with the sprouts!). Grated carrot, cucumber strips, shredded iceberg lettuce, ricotta, cottage cheese, tuna, diced chicken and egg all work well.
These pitas are also yummy toasted.
